IT IS UNETHICAL TO RECEIVE A CORONAVIRUS VACCINE DEVELOPED FROM ABORTED BABIES TISSUE

IT IS UNETHICAL TO RECEIVE A CORONAVIRUS VACCINE DEVELOPED FROM ABORTED BABIES TISSUE. At the heart of this issue is a little Dutch girl who died a horrible abortional death in 1972. Kidney cells from her corpse were used for medical research and named with the label HEK-293, Alleged News. [1] Her historic remnant of HEK-293 is one of the cell-lines being exploited in the production of the Covid-19 vaccine at Oxford University, Alleged News. [1]

Voices are calling for vaccination to be administered as a prima facie duty, even if the Covid-19 vaccine was developed using tissue derived from abortion fetuses, Alleged News. [1] A moral obligation to guarantee the vaccination coverage necessary for the safety of others and out of solidarity of others has been posited, Alleged News. [1]

Thou shalt not kill
This issue deals with how far we, as society are prepared to go. Are we prepared to knowingly receive the medicated remnants of a murdered baby girl in order to escape death ourselves? Can we disobey the order of Almighty God in the sixth commandment "Thou shalt not kill" [Exodus 20:13]?  The commandment is a moral imperative included as one of the Ten Commandments in the Torah.

Bloodguilt
The imperative not to kill is in the context of unlawful killing resulting in bloodguilt. It is a grave issue to realize that the knowing receival of an abortus-contaminated vaccine makes the receiver complicit in the bloodguilt stemming from the initial act of the taking of innocent life.  Bloodguilt refers to the liability for punishment for shedding blood.

Result of abortion
The result of abortion is abortus, whether in clearly manifested or derivative form. The newly aborted baby is in clearly manifested murdered human form. The thirty-eight year old historically aborted baby in cell-line form is in derivative murdered human form. Both forms of the baby are equally murdered human,  the only difference being the form.

A human being is not a product
On February 22, 1987, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI (writing, then, as Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith), issued Donum Vitae: An Instruction on Respect for Human Life in its Origin and on the Dignity of Procreation. In it, the pontiff emeritus said, "The corpses of human embryos and fetuses, whether they have been deliberately aborted or not, must be respected just as the remains of other human beings. In particular, they cannot be subjected to mutilation or autopsies if their death has not yet been verified and with the consent of the parents or of the mothers ... Also, in the case of dead fetuses, as for the corpses of adult persons, all commercial trafficking must be considered illicit and should be prohibited." [2]

Commandments, not suggestions
The Ten Commandments of God are commands; not suggestions. The Commandments are there to guide us away from puzzlement in the face of difficult decisions. Their unchanging authority and clarity are clear and devoid of ambiguity or sophistry. The Commandments make every new dilemma easy to face and deal with. We are not allowed to kill. To participate in killing places us in the category of disobedience to God and liable at our judgement after death for this sin. To knowingly accept a vaccine which is derived from the killing of an innocent, involves us as complicit in the bloodguilt.

Covid vaccine protest by three Archbishops
A letter to the Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, asks the government to seek alternative Covid vaccines to the one produced by pharma giant AstraZeneca, which was the subject of an announcment that it could be provided free to all Australians; Alleged News. [3] The letter was signed by three Archbishops; Anthony Fisher, the Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, Glenn Davies of the Sydney Anglicans and the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Australia, Makarios Griniezakis, Alleged News. [3]

Archbishop Fisher wrote, "This week's announcement that a Letter of Intent has been signed between our government and AstraZeneca for a vaccine raises some important ethical questions because the vaccine in question makes use of a cell line cultured from an electively aborted human foetus."

"Whether this vaccine is successful or not, it is important tht the government does not create an ethical dilemma for people. Along with the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney and the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Australia, I have written to the Prime Minister Scott Morrison, asking the government to pursue similar arrangements for alternative vaccines that do not raise the same ethical concerns, so that Australians will have a choice when it comes to vaccination.

"There are currently 167 vaccines being researched, many of which do not use foetal cells in their development. It is in the best interests of the community that vaccination is widely taken up and this deadly disease defeated, and this will better be achieved if the vaccines available do not create an ethical quandary," Alleged News. [3]

Protests by pro-life groups
Science magazine reported on protests by pro-life groups regarding Covid vaccines: "At least five of the candidate Covid-19 vaccines use one of two human foetal cell line: HEK-293, a kidney cell line widely used in research and industry that comes from a foetus aborted in about 1972; and PER.C6, a proprietary cell line owned by Janssen, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, developed from retinal cells from an 18-week-old foetus aborted in 1985. Both cell lines were developed in the lab of molecular biologist Alex van der Eb at Leiden University. Two of the five vaccines have entered human trials," Alleged News. [3]

There are moral alternatives
Alternative vaccines are in development, using among others;
  • BCG vaccine - no cells involved
  • Israel - Pluristem - Using placenta donated from newborn babies
  • British American Tobacco - tobacco leaves
  • Medicago/GSK/Dynavax - Uses VLPs produced in plant cells, Alleged News . See the list at the link below [4]

Image and Likeness of God
Preborn boys and girls from whom cell lines were harvested, were unique children made in the Image and Likeness of Almighty God.  Their souls are in heaven. Their bodies will rise again on the last day. How terrible it will be if our resurrected body were to contain the reproach of having incorporated their martyred bodies.

Personal conscience
Each individual with personal conscience has to make the decision whether to obey God or not. In this instance, do we obey God's order not to participate - however implicity - in the killing of another?

In the words of Sister Deirdre Byrne, we are not only pro-life but pro- eternal life. [5] Let us vote for respect of the sanctity of unborn human life and honour abortion martyrs in eternity. This we can do by choosing alternative vaccines which do not use pathetically tormented remains of murdered unborn.

Respect life! Challenge the culture of death!
In the October 4, 2019 edition of The Southern Cross, Tony Magliano wrote, "St Pope John Paul II, in his powerful encyclical "Evangelium Vitae" ("The Gospel of Life"), [37b] challengingly said, "How can we fail to consider the violence against life done to millions of human beings, especially children, who are forced into poverty, malnutrition and hunger because of an unjust distribution of resources between peoples and between social classes?

"And what of violence inherent not only in wars as such, but in the scandalous arms trade, which spawns the many conflicts which stain our world with blood?

"What of the spreading of death caused by reckless tampering with the world's ecological balance?

St John Paul then linked these deadly affronts against life to the lethal attacks upon human beings at life's earliest and final stages - through abortion, infanticide, euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide," Alleged News. [38]

The Southern Cross columns
In its columnist articles and advertising columns, The Southern Cross has carried emphatic pro-life content and advertisements on an ongoing basis.

Pro-life 1970's
Dr Luky Whittle was a columnist for The Southern Cross in the 1970's and 1980's. Her article published circa 1970's entitled "Neighbourly help for a girl in need" began as follows,
"Birthright, the agency that helps pregnant women find alternatives to abortion ..." and concluded with "If you could help get this movement started in your community, why not contact the national director of Birthright ..." [39]

Prolife 2020
The Southern Cross advertises Birthright and continues to do so, with the words, "Pregnant? Need help? We care, BIRTHRIGHT.
072 742 8861 JHB. We welcome prayers, volunteers and donations. www.birthright.co.za" (The Southern Cross, August 19 to August 25, 2020) [40]

Personal advertisements have carried inter the following,
2013: "ABORTION WARNING. The pill can abort (chemical abortion)..." (The Southern Cross, October 16 to October 22, 2013) [41]
2020: "ABORTION WARNING. The truth will convict a silent church. See www.valuelifeabortionisevil.co.za". [42]

Retrenchments
Devoted The Southern Cross readers were dismayed at the news that our beloved family newspaper has ground to a halt during the Covid pandemic, leading to the closure of the newspaper just prior to its hundredth birthday in October.

Holy water was sprinkled on the retrenched staff's brows by Cape Town's Auxiliary Bishop Sylvester David on 29th July 2020, as The Southern Cross readers grieved from Covid-19 isolation. This was part of the farewell blessing for the nine staff who were no longer going to be employees of The Southern Cross, Alleged News. [43]

Forty-seven years dedicated service
They included Ms Pamela Davids, the admin manager who served the newspaper for close to 47 of its 100 years; alleged News. [43] But Ms Davids will continue to serve The Southern Cross, alongside Mr Gunther Simmermacher and online editor Ms Claire Allen to bring out the weekly edition digitally until late September, when The Southern Cross will relaunch as a monthly magazine, Alleged News. [43]

Bishop Sylvester David
In his homily, Bishop David said he had grown up reading The Southern Cross; Alleged News.

Bishop David had this to say, "At heart, The Southern Cross is a lighthouse that keeps the Good News alive," Alleged News. [43] "The evangelising disciples and St Paul themselves were journalists who recorded the signs and deeds of their times. Their ministry was an early form of social communications, in writing and speaking, to keep families and communities connected in their Christian faith.

For us, now, keeping The Southern Cross alive in digital and affordable print format would be a valiant mission worth struggling for," Alleged News.  [43]

Archbishop William Slattery
Archbishop Slattery pointed out the sadness of the moment in the history of the church "to learn that our beloved weekly as we knew it will soon be no more... There is a death in our family this year," Alleged News. [44]

The Archbishop expressed that the relaunch of The Southern Cross as a monthly magazine brings hope and consolation, Alleged News. [44]

Prolife-friendly newspaper
Mr Simmermacher, Ms Davids and Ms Allen are relaunching The Southern Cross as a monthly magazine as freelancers, at significant financial sacrifice; Alleged News. [43]

Devoted readers of The Southern Cross) are subscribing to The Southern Cross, sending donations and filling in the survey to give their input to the new format magazine.
