Jesus as Youth negotiated adolescence with grace and dignity. His example forms a blueprint for youth who wish to make steady decisions for a holy future. It is not easy being dedicated to the ways of God. There are many who laugh or place obstacles in the way. Yet God’s Grace abounds, and the example of Christ leaps from the pages of the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Born poor, Jesus did not turn to theft. Helpless as small dependent, Jesus loved and obeyed. Refugee, Jesus did not rebel or hate. Returned exile, Jesus did not resent or disrespect. Under jurisdiction of parents, Jesus listened to wise counsel. Worshipper, Jesus prayed. Torah student, Jesus studied. Apprentice, Jesus learned and worked. Living in poverty, Jesus did not hurt, resort to violence, envy or kill. May we follow His luminous example.
