PROTESTS REGARDING THE FATE OF PRO-LIFE DR DE VOS HAVE SPREAD LIKE WILDFIRE FROM SOUTH AFRICA ALL THE WAY TO NAIROBI KENYA; ALLEGED NEWS. [1] MORE THAN 19,000 SIGNATURES FROM AFRICAN CITIZENS - CONCERNED ABOUT THE FATE OF PRO-LIFE DR JACQUES DE VOS - WERE DELIVERED TO HIGH COMMISSIONER THEMBELA NGCULU AT HIS NAIROBI OFFICE AS REPORTED ON 25th SEPTEMBER 2019; ALLEGED NEWS. [2]

Dr de Vos is facing charges for telling a pregnant woman basic scientific facts about her unborn baby; Alleged News. [3] Dr de Vos was completing his medical internship two years ago when the Health Professions Council of South Africa charged him for telling a woman that an abortion kills a human being; Alleged News. [3]

South African High Commission
Protesters delivered the more than 19,000 petitions 'Stop persecuting Dr Jacques de Vos for his pro-life beliefs' to the South African High Commission in Nairobi; Alleged News. [1] Received by High Commissioner Thembela Ngculu and two others, CitizenGO volunteers explained the plight of Dr de Vos and why this doctor needed not only his career but his life back, Alleged News. [1] Volunteers prayed for Dr de Vos outside the South African embassy, Alleged News. [1]

Cape Town Inquiry
Dr de Vos' inquiry began in Cape Town in August, based on four unprofessional conduct charges; Alleged News. According to the report, he allegedly 'infringed' on the patient's 'autonomy with anti-abortion utterances', Alleged News. During Dr de Vos' medical internship at 2 Military Hospital in Wynberg, he allegedly told a pregnant woman that her 'fetus was a human being' and that an abortion kills an unborn human, Alleged News. Dr de Vos lost his employment and was banned from practising medicine, Alleged News. He was only a week away from finishing his medical degree, Alleged News. [3]

Regulations
According to Defence advocate Keith Matthee, several regulations had not been adhered to, including
- failure to give the defence the complainant letter
- the reintroduction of new charges after the hearing date was finalized
- failure to disclose the members of the committee seven days before the hearing to allow the defence to carry out a diligence on them to ensure Dr de Vos received a fair trial
- failure to produce copies of written statements by witnesses, Alleged News [3]

African Christian Democratic party
The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) stated in August that it stood in solidarity with Dr Jacques de Vos, Alleged News.  ACDP MP Maria Sukers said the party commended Dr de Vos, who was charged by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), Alleged News. MP Sukers said the doctor had taken a 'bold and unpopular stand in choosing to be a voice for the voiceless,' Alleged News. [3]

Counselling
Section 4 of the South Africa Numbered Acts: Choice on Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1996 [No 92 of 1996] - G 17602 states the following:
4. The State shall promote the provision of non-mandatory and non-directive counselling, before and after the termination of a pregnancy
Consent
5. (1) Subject to the provisions of subsections (4) and (5), the termination of a pregnancy may only take place with the informed consent of the pregnancy woman. [3]
Thus non-mandatory and non-directive counselling prior-and post abortion is promoted. The abortion may only take place with the informed consent of the pregnant woman. Informed consent is the permission granted with the full knowledge of the possible consequences, typically that which is given by a patient to a doctor for treatment with knowledge of the possible risks and benefits. [3]

Inquiry delayed
The inquiry regarding Dr Jacques de Vos was due to come up on 3rd and 4th October 2019 in Cape Town: Alleged News. [1] The hearing, before a six-member committee, has reportedly been postponed to the end of October; Alleged News. [4] The chairperson of the disciplinary committee is reportedly no longer available on the scheduled dates due to 'logistical issues which the respondent's attorneys are aware of,' Alleged News. [4] Doctors for Life reportedly claimed that the HPCSA's failure to provide the defence with crucial documents was behind the delay; Alleged News. [4]

Protests are growing
The protests regarding the fate of Dr Jacques de Vos are growing, with concern being voiced from South Africa to Kenya. One petition has been handed in from CitizenGO. Another petition is doing the rounds, with the political party African Christian Democratic Party standing with pro-life Dr de Vos.

Human anatomy lecturer to testify
UCT Senior lecturer in human anatomy and embryology, Dr Christopher Warton, will testify at the hearing of Dr de Vos; who was charged for advising a mother that her unborn child is a human life; Alleged News. [6]  The hearing is now set down for 28-30 October 2019 at the Southern Sun Hotel, Newlands, Cape Town; Alleged News. [6] The expert testimony of Dr Warton may be found in link [6]; a synopsis encapsulates the following:
- The main question posed to Dr Warton to address in this opinion is whether it is reasonable for a health practitioner, in the light of his/her undergraduate education in embryology, to regard a fetus as human life when seeking to comply with "doing good, doing no harm" to a patient; Alleged News [6]
- Expert testimony by Dr Warton - author of two manuals for the teaching of Embryology which have been extensively used by undergraduate medical students at  UCT [University of Cape Town] in recent years - follows; Alleged News [6]
- Dr Warton's opinion is that it is entirely rational and reasonable for a medical practitioner to view a 19 week old fetus as human life to whom she must do good and do no harm. This would for example explain why a medical practitioner would carefully consider the effects of any medication she prescribes for the mother, on the fetus; Alleged News. [6]
- To the question 'Should a woman be informed of the development and appearance of her fetus when being counselled prior to a proposed abortion,' Dr Warton opines it is usual when obtaining informed consent from a patient to tell them all relevant information so they can make a proper decision. It is unethical to hide from them relevant information. If a woman has an abortion and later discovers that the fetus was more developed she realized she could legitimately complain that her consent was not informed. It is thus entirely reasonable for a health practitioner to seek to inform such a patient of the nature of the fetus whose life is to be terminated; Alleged News. [6]

Increased support
Support for Dr de Vos in South Africa and further afield has been growing apace. 2019 has shown nationwide protests against the abortion law. [7] ongoing South African marches for life such as the March for Life Cape Town, [8] the Pretoria prolife rally to protest abortion law [9], the NAL Pretoria demonstration against abortion [10], ongoing protests against Marie Stopes clinics [7 and 9]. The fact that mother and her unborn baby are two separate entities is clear [11].  Prolife voters went to the polls with prolife voter guide confidence [12]. South African prolifers affirmed the sanctity of unborn life at the National Alliance for Life [NAL] conference in Pretoria [13 and 14].

STAND WITH DR DE VOS!

IVF MOTHERS OVER 40 SEE THEIR RISK OF CANCER INCREASE BY 65%, ALLEGED NEWS

WOMEN WHO HAVE CHILDREN THROUGH IN-VITRO FERTILIZATION [IVF] COULD BE AT GREATER RISK OF BREAST CANCER, NEW RESEARCH SUGGESTS; ALLEGED NEWS. [1] The research claimed that mothers over 40 who used fertility treatment to have their first child were 65 percent more likely to develop the disease, Alleged News. Across all ages it was linked to a 10 percent increase, Alleged News. [1]

IVF typically involves giving women powerful medications so that instead of one egg a month the ovaries release up to 20 for fertilization in the laboratory; Alleged News. The body produces more oestrogen in order to grow the eggs - and oestrogen is also known to encourage cancer cells: Alleged News.  [1]

Wake-up call
Copenhagen University researchers tracked 59,000 women who underwent fertility treatment -  mainly IVF - to have a child and compared them with women of similar ages from 567,000 who gave birth naturally, Alleged News.  Fertility expert Professor Geeta Nargund of St George's Hospital in London said, "Women are more prone to breast cancer as they get older, particularly if they have never given birth to a child. On top of that, if you add stimulation drugs which increase oestrogen levels, this risk further appears to be increased. This is a wake-up call about the use of high-dose stimulation in IVF, especially in women over 40. We must act now as a precaution," Alleged News.  [1]

The findings were published at the annual meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology [ESHRE] in Vienna, Alleged News. [1]

SOUTH AFRICA: PRO-LIFE DR DE VOS CHARGED WITH UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT FOR TELLING PATIENT ABORTION KILLS A HUMAN BEING, ALLEGED NEWS

SOUTH AFRICA: DR JACQUES DE VOS [32] IS FACING CHARGES FOR TELLING A PREGNANT WOMAN BASIC SCIENTIFIC FACTS ABOUT HER UNBORN BABY; ALLEGED NEWS. [1] Dr de Vos was completing his medical internship two years ago when the Health Professions Council of South Africa charged him for telling a woman that an abortion kills a human being: Alleged News. [1]

Cape Town Inquiry
Dr de Vos' inquiry began Tuesday in Cape Town based on four unprofessional conduct charges; Alleged News. [1] According to the report, he allegedly 'infringed' on the patient's 'autonomy with anti-abortion utterances', Alleged News. [1]  During Dr de Vos' medical internship at 2 Military Hospital in Wynberg, he allegedly told a pregnant woman that her 'fetus was a human being' and that an abortion kills an unborn human, Alleged News. [1]  Dr de Vos lost his employment and was banned from practising medicine, Alleged News. [1] He was only a week away from finishing his medical degree, Alleged News. [1]

Regulations
According to Defence advocate Keith Matthee, several regulations had not been adhered to, including
- failure to give the defence the complainant letter
- the reintroduction of new charges after the hearing date was finalized
- failure to disclose the members of the committee seven days before the hearing to allow the defence to carry out a diligence on them to ensure Dr de Vos got a fair trial
- failure to produce copies of written statements by witnesses, Alleged News [2]

African Christian Democratic Party
The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) stated on Monday that it stood in solidarity with Dr Jacques de Vos, who is facing disciplinary inquiry for advising that abortion is the killing of a human being: Alleged News. [3] ACDP MP Maria Sukers said the party commended Dr de Vos, who was charged by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA); Alleged News. [3] MP Sukers said the doctor had taken a 'bold and unpopular stand in choosing to be a voice for the voiceless,' Alleged News. [3]
"The ACDP believes in the sanctity of human life, and we look forward to a time when the life of an unborn child will be given the reasonable protection it deserves, Dr de Vos is to us an indication that the time for that is not far off. His statement, which has landed him in hot water with the HPSCA and 2 Military Hospital shows that there are people who know that we cannot value human rights without valuing human life," MP Sukers stated: Alleged News. [3]

Counselling
Section 4 of the South Africa Numbered Acts: Choice on Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1996 [No 92 of 1996] - G 17602 states the following:
4. The State shall promote the provision of non-mandatory and non-directive counselling, before and after the termination of a pregnancy.
Consent
5. (1) Subject to the provisions of subsections (4) and (5), the termination of a pregnancy may only take place with the informed consent of the pregnant woman. [4]

Thus non-mandatory and non-directive counselling prior- and post abortion is promoted. The abortion may only take place with the informed consent of the pregnant woman. Informed consent is the permission granted with the full knowledge of the possible consequences, typically that which is given by a patient to a doctor for treatment with knowledge of the possible risks and benefits.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released their 2018-2022 plan, which unequivocally states that life begins at conception and deserves protection, Alleged News. [5] In the introduction it says, "HHS accomplishes its mission through programs and initiatives that cover a wide spectrum of activities, serving and protecting Americans at every stage of life, beginning at conception," Alleged News. [5]
In support of the HHS's draft, author and bioethics expert Wesley J Smith wrote, "life ...' beginning at conception' ... is a fact of basic biological science," Alleged News. [5]

Support for Dr de Vos
Expressed opinion in South Africa is becoming increasingly eloquent for pro-life, with strong support for Dr de Vos. 2019 has shown nationwide demonstrations against the abortion law [6], ongoing South African marches for life such as the March for Life Cape Town [7], the Pretoria prolife rally to protest abortion law [8],  the NAL Pretoria demonstration against abortion [13], ongoing protests at Marie Stopes clinics [8 and 9]. The fact that mother and her unborn baby are two separate entities is clear [10]. Prolife voters went to the polls with prolife voter guide confidence [11]. South African prolifers affirmed the sanctity of unborn life at the National Alliance for Life [NAL] conference in Pretoria [12 and 13].

Persecution
Many are voicing the opinion that Dr de Vos is being persecuted for his prolife beliefs.

SOUTH AFRICA: CONCERNS RAISED REGARDING COMPREHENSIVE SEXUALITY EDUCATION, ALLEGED NEWS

IN SOUTH AFRICA, CONCERNS CONTINUE TO BE RAISED REGARDING COMPREHENSIVE SEXUALITY EDUCATION. Many parents have asked what they can do about the inclusion of sexually explicit and/or inappropriate content in the proposed new Life Orientation curriculum to be taught in South African schools, Alleged News. [1] They are concerned that the new curriculum will undermine their parental rights to raise their children according to their religious [or moral] convictions and beliefs; Alleged News. [1]

Department of Basic Education
FOR SA has met with the Department of Basic Education on a number of occasions in order to raise concerns on how CSE [Comprehensive sexuality education] will be implemented in South Africa, Alleged News. [1] Teaching on sexuality is laden with underlying values. FOR SA talks with the Department of Basic Education have therefore mainly revolved around the importance of respecting parents' rights since they have the primary right and responsibility to raise their own children according to their own system of values and beliefs, Alleged News. Parents should therefore not be forced to expose their children to teaching about sexuality which may be in conflict with their own values, beliefs, and opinions.

STOP CSE AT SOUTH AFRICAN SCHOOLS
56 488 have signed the petition to stop CSE at South African schools at the time of posting this blog. Why not join those who wish to allow children their childhood and sign?

A CANDLE HAS BEEN LIT BY LUMIERE IN REMEMBRANCE OF ALL WHO HAVE BEEN WOUNDED AND/OR MURDERED IN FARM ATTACKS IN SOUTH AFRICA

A LIT CANDLE HAS BEEN BURNING IN REMEMBRANCE OF ALL WHO HAVE BEEN  WOUNDED AND/OR MURDERED IN FARM ATTACKS IN SOUTH AFRICA.  May they rest in peace, and may strength and courage be with their bereaved families and friends.

POLITICIANS GIVE WARNING
Famine will result if proficient farmers continue to be murdered on farms, said Mr Mosiuoa Lekota, leader of the Congress of the People [Cope]; Alleged News. [1]
Mr Lekota is one of the many politicians to express their horror at the news that an elderly couple were murdered on their farm outside Boshof in the Free State on Friday night (12 July 2019): Alleged News. [1] Mr and Mrs Sakkie and Ina van der Berg were attacked in the house on their farm Bloubos, and murdered: Alleged News. [1]
Mr Lekota said that the idea of land expropriation without compensation had been a frequent topic for discussion among Robben Island prisoners, Alleged News. [1] "Ons het gesê die dag as ons ons vryheid kry, sal ons sorg dat geen eiendom sonder vergoeding onteien word nie, omdat ons nie die ekonomie van die land wou ontwrig nie," (Translation: "We said that the day we would gain our freedom, we would ensure that no property would be expropriated without compensation, because we did not want to disrupt the country's economy"), Alleged News. (Translation: "The country will find itself without food should the farmers continue to be killed, since milk, fruit, vegetables and meat do not just appear in a supermarket. I do not think the government is aware how urgently it needs to sharpen up the security of the people in the country"); Alleged News. [1]

FARM MURDERS HAVE BECOME A CRISIS
Dr Roy Jankielsohn, DA-member and leader of the official opposition in the Free State legislator, offered sympathy to the relatives of the deceased: Alleged News [1] "Ons lewe in n siek samelewing waarin mense en veral ons senior burgers nie meer veilig is nie," (Translation: "We live in a sick society in which people and particularly our senior citizens are no longer safe,") Alleged News. [1]
Dr Jankielsohn stated that security in rural districts, particularly with regard to farm attacks, has become a crisis: Alleged News. [1] "Dit is duidelik dat die polisie die oorlog teen misdaad verloor het," (Translation: "It is clear that the police have lost the war against crime,") Alleged News. [1]

EXACERBATION FACTORS
Dr Jankielsohn is of the opinion that there are three factors which are exacerbating the situation; Alleged News. [1] Firstly the gravity of the situation has not been accepted by politicians: secondly, South African society has lost its moral compass and violent crime has become part of our everyday existence. Thirdly, the legal system are leaving victims and their families in the lurch," Alleged News. [1] Moreover, the police are not receiving the necessary support in terms of vehicles and trained personnel; Alleged News. [1]

CALL ON THE GOVERNMENT
FF Plus-LP Wouter Wessels said, "Ons as party wil weer n ernstige beroep op die regering doen om daadwerklik op te tree. (Translation: We as a party wish to call seriously on the government to take active action.) Landelike veiligheid moet opgeskerp word. (Translation: Rural security must be sharpened up.) Dit is veral die landelike bevolking wat uitgelewer is. (Translation: It is particularly the rural population who are being handed over.) Die VF Plus sal die dubbele Van der Berg-moord met die provinsiale kommissaris van die polisie en op nasionale vlak met die polisiekommissaris opneem," (Translation: The FF Plus will take up the dual Van der Berg-murder with the provincial commissioner of police and at national level with the police commissioner); Alleged News. [1]
