SHACKLING IN INDONESIA, ALLEGED NEWS. WHY NOT JOIN THE CAMPAIGN?


LUMIERE HAS RECEIVED REPORT THAT PEOPLE WITH PSYCHOSOCIAL DISABILITIES [MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS] IN INDONESIA ARE SHACKLED OR PLACED INTO INSTITUTIONS; ALLEGED NEWS. 
In the Institutions they often face physical and sexual violence, involuntary treatment including electroshock therapy, seclusion, restraint and forced contraception; Alleged News.

Human Rights Watch
Human Rights Watch examined how people with psychosocial difficulties often end up chained or locked up in unsanitary and overcrowded conditions, without their consent, due to stigma and the absence of adequate community-based support services, including mental health care; Alleged News. [1]

1977 Ban on Shackling
Despite a 1977 Ban on Shackling - known as pasung - in Indonesia, the practice continues; Alleged News. 
More than 18,000 Indonesians with perceived psychosocial disabilites [mental health conditions] are tied down by chains - to beds, cement blocks and or in animal pens - and lack access to mental health care; Alleged News.
They are confined, sometimes for decades. [2]
Human Rights Watch is urging the Ministry of Health to provide mental health medication in local health centers and support services for all who seek them; Alleged News. [2]
