When our forefathers marched and suffered for independence, they proudly thought of the generations of Irish to come who would have access to freedom and protection.
The inspired constitution which rules all of Irish life hosts the eighth amendment, giving explicit and well thought out recognition and protection to the right to life of the unborn child.
There are forces which seek to repeal, to overturn, this democratic right.
People in Ireland have vociferously and clearly shown their opposition to abortion, turning out in huge numbers to support the right to life of the unborn child.
Since 2012, the prolife movement has surged in numbers and strength as the people refuse to bow their heads down under the culture of death which would seek to kill our unborn citizens.
Representatives from every part of Ireland have taken part in Rallies; as far afield as Kerry, Dublin, Mayo, Donegal, Monaghan, Knock, Galway, Ulster, Leinster, Ballinasloe and Maynooth [1].
The people have heard with horror of the suffering of survivors of abortion, who live afflicted with post-abortion illnesses such as cerebral palsy, loss of limbs during dismembering procedure, [2]
60,000 protesters descended on Dublin on 6th July 2013 to support the right to life of the unborn child. [3]
Death threats
Prolife activists received death threats, threats of violence, they were stalked.
Threats of rape and forced impregnation of girls and women known to be prolife, with threats of subsequent forced abortion traumatised the female population of Ireland.
Girls and women elected to walk in groups and were afraid to be alone or out after dark due to escalation of threats.
Excretement was smeared outside Prolife offices. Prolife offices were targeted by arson. [3]
Prolife strength
The effect of threats and pressure has served only to make the prolife movement in Ireland stronger. Why is there need to pressure the people - democratically governed - to change their stance on the great value of the family and the unborn child?
Ireland has had many years in which to rejoice in her record of dedicated and excellent care for mother and child during antenatal care, childbirth and postnatal care.
The culture of life in Ireland seeks to offer best care for both mother and child.

Julia Holcomb, who lost her baby through abortion, sent a video message to the people gathered at the 2014 National Vigil for life in Ireland, encouraging all.
