ST MAELRUAIN'S RAISING FUNDS
This historic Church, one of the original Monastery sites of Ancient Ireland, has been hard hit by the financial realities of the Recession.
Major renovations to this beautiful Church over the past ten years have been done.
If St Maelruain's wishes to continue to keep its doors open for the spiritual pilgrims who come to its peaceful and historic environs, funds are needed.
So please attend the Flower Festival, and help us to keep our original Celtic Monastery site open for future centuries and our children's children.

FLOWER FESTIVAL
The Church is illuminated all year round with flowers arranged by Members of the Flower Guild.
The Flower Festival is being designed by Richard Haslam with the Theme 'The Circle of Life'.

EXHIBITIONS
Photography will be exhibited at the Festival.
The Members of Peannairi will be at the Festival, where an exhibition of graceful Calligraphy will be held.
The Members will be demonstrating their beautiful work. This is a must for anyone interested in the gracious art.
Knitting and various forms of skilled stitching including tapestry will be exhibited.
St Maelruain's Church has handmade Wedding Kneelers, perfect accessories to a wedding with worship.

ST MáEL RUAIN
The Monastery of Tallaght's Foundation in 769 A.D. by Máel Ruain (or St Maelruain) was the beginning of unprecedented spiritual growth.
The Monastery was an acknowledged Center of learning and piety.
Maelruain's Monastery was so important in Early Ireland that it and the Monastery of Finglas were known as the "Two Eyes of Ireland".
St Aengus secretly enrolled at Tallaght as a Lay Brother, and lived in anonymity until Maelruain discovered his identity.
They may have written The Martyrology of Tallaght together.
Christian worship has continued on the site of the original monastery since the eighth century.
Today, the exquisite St Maelruain's Church offers a peaceful place to worship in a site which holds deep spiritual and historic significance.
An evocative view of the remains of the fosse, the original and ancient curved bank which enclosed Maelruain's Monastery may be seen in the grounds of the church.
The best view is from the car park at the rear of Smith's Toystore.
A heritage marker proudly marks the site.

OUR LADY'S HOSPICE HAROLDS CROSS
Part of the proceeds of the Flower Festival will be donated to the Tallaght Hospice Homecare Team.
The Community Palliative Care Team assist those in need from small babies to elders.
